Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a simulation game that has become progressively more popular.
Like a Dragon: The First Quest is the first game to be released in the Like a Dragon series and is available for the PlayStation 4. It was released back in 2020, but has since been remastered for modern systems.
The newest release of the game has new costumes, and English audio. The PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S get it November 10, 2020.
This version was then released in Asia under the subtitle “International” on February 25, 2021 for Windows and Xbox platforms.
The game was released on PS5 on March 2, 2021, and then also an Amazon Luna version was launched a few months later, in December of 2021.
Side quests, known as “sub-stories” in-game, can be taken up to get some additional rewards while players can enjoy the side activities around the map. Examples include karaoke.
A new feature in this game is Dragon Kart, which is like other racing games.
The game is set three years after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
For the first time in Like a Dragon, the focus is no longer on Tokyo and instead expands to Kamurochō, an imaginary recreation of Kabukichō.
Instead, most of the game proceeds in Yokohama’s Isezakichō area, which is based on Yokohama’s real-life counterpart.
Yakuza 3 features Kamurochō and Sotenbori (a district from previous Yakuza games).
Yokohama is notorious for a large criminal underworld comprised of 3 big gangs. It includes the Chinese-Japanese gang Yokohama Liumang, the Korean-Japanese Geomijul mafia, an offshoot of the Jingweon Mafia, and finally the local yakuza organisation.
I really enjoyed the story in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It’s been a while since we had a main series game without Kazuma Kiryu as the protagonist. The lead character is Ichiban Kasuga, a member of Arakawa Family who can’t seem to catch break and just wants to do right by his girlfriend and child.
The game follows the protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, as he is doing everything he can to protect his fellow Tojo Clan members from the ever warning signs of danger that exist in their world.
The game begins when series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu steps down from the role of chairman for Tojo Clan and retires to a quiet life with Haruka Sawamura.
Ichiban embraces a retro, RPG feel. This penchant is evident in even the thugs who harass our heroes turn into aggressive monster people when combat beings. It may not work for everyonr, but it does make for an entertaining play.
Very important component of past Yakuza titles is combat, and a key feature in this game as well. However, not having the instant release of action-based battles at the end of cutscenes can make it feel like you’re watching a movie and not playing video games.
